i can't believe i'm not in heidelberg anymore! i miss sister ranzenberger and my elders SO much! and the ward and the people!!!!!! but mainz is cool too. its bigger than heidelberg, but its pretty too. not as many fun things to do on pday though:(
well so far i like it here in mainz. sister stevenson is awesome. we get along really well. sister stevenson is from Utah. shes REALLY obedient and works really hard. poor thing has been here in mainz since november! she loves it here but she kind of wants to serve somewhere else before she goes home in december.
we have like 6 progressing investigators. one is from the Congo and one only speaks portugese. we have a sister from our ward who speaks spanish come with us and she translates our german into spanish and then we're pretty sure she understands because spanish and portugese are pretty similar. i can understand both of them when they're speaking. i just can't speak spanish anymore :( we don't have an actual outreach center like we do in heidelberg, but we still offer the same activities. so we teach the english class on wednesday nights. i'm excited to be in this ward. everyone is really friendly and welcoming. i like them.
so the world cup is going on (soccer) and germans are obessed with their soccer! i just wish i could watch. but its funny because everyone is inside watching the game...or outside watching the game and everyone has their windows open and everyone is yelling and all excited. so i can pretty much tell whats going on because everyone cheers when we score and boos when something bad happens. and then i can tell when we win because everyone is super loud and cars are honking... its lots of fun... except not really because we're usually trying to go to sleep when everyone is honking their horns.

Hi Sister Doty! You are such an amazing girl/woman/missionary! I just finished catching up on your blog - and while you not be excited about your new transfer, I'm sure the people of Mainz will be thrilled to meet you! Your smile and enthusiasm are contagious, whether you know it or not! I loved reading this blog - it made my heart feel good - sometimes when you serve a mission you never know who you touch...and while you're serving in Germany you've certainly touched me, all the way back here in Sammamish! Love you Rachel - keep up the good work! Nan (Sorry, I have to sign into Google/Blogger with my dog's blog...for some reason I can't sign in under just me or my blog!)
